Donald Trump has renewed his criticism of the United Kingdom and Prime Minister Keir Starmer amid rising tensions with Iran.

On social media and in comments from the White House, Trump expressed frustration that Britain and other allies have not done more to support U.S.

efforts in the region. Trump accused the UK of dragging its feet after he says London declined to send aircraft carriers to the Middle East.

He also reiterated an earlier barb that Starmer is "no Winston Churchill." Speaking on his platform, Trump suggested that if the United States were to eliminate Iran’s current leadership, neighboring countries that rely on the regime might be forced to take responsibility for securing the crucial Strait of Hormuz.

That waterway is strategically vital: roughly one-fifth of the world’s oil supply transits the strait, which has been affected by recent missile and drone strikes and, according to reports, Iranian moves that have limited passage. White House remarks included Trump’s claim that he turned down a British offer to deploy carriers to assist in operations related to the Iran situation.

He said he was unhappy with what he described as a lack of responsiveness from some allies.

The exchange highlights growing friction between Washington and London over how to respond to the crisis, with both sides facing pressure at home over their approaches to Iran. Officials in both capitals have so far offered limited public comment on the latest back-and-forth as diplomatic and military tensions continue to unfold.
