Lorraine Kelly’s daughter, Rosie Smith, has revealed a frightening encounter shortly after she and her partner welcomed their baby in August 2024.
Rosie and fiancé Steve White were on one of their early pram walks when a man began shouting at them.
Rosie, recovering from a planned C-section at 38 weeks and struggling with postpartum anxiety, said she was in pain and moving slowly.
According to Rosie, the stranger’s behaviour quickly escalated from aggressive shouting to a direct threat.
He allegedly told them he would kill Steve and do it in front of their newborn, Billie Kelly Smith-White.
The incident left Rosie shaken and in tears.
Steve, a former police officer, called the authorities and officers attended to take statements and later arrest the man.
Rosie said they eventually decided not to pursue the case.
The couple moved away and, keen for a fresh start without the stress of court proceedings, Steve withdrew the charges.
She admitted to mixed emotions about that choice, feeling guilty at times but believing staying in that legal process would not have been healthy for the family.
Rosie and Steve are planning to marry in Scotland this summer.
Rosie, 31, has repeatedly described her mother as simply “mum” despite Lorraine Kelly’s public profile, saying she’s always seen her in that family role rather than as a celebrity.
She also shared advice passed down from her mother and grandmother: that both good and bad times are temporary, that kindness matters, and that you must look after yourself in order to care for others.
