Peter Reid was interviewed on live TV after 'having a few shandies' before Everton's final match at Goodison Park. The Toffees faced Southampton in their last home game of the Premier League season. It was an emotional day for all involved, given that it was Everton's final outing at their famous old stadium before moving into their new ground ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.

Before the match got underway, a number of Everton legends were invited onto the pitch to soak up the applause of the capacity crowd. The likes of Duncan Ferguson, Phil Jagielka and Wayne Rooney were all spotted wandering around and chatting amongst themselves. Peter Reid was also in attendance, with the 68-year-old clearly enjoying himself in front of the TV cameras.

He was ushered in for an interview on TNT Sports but looked slightly worse for wear as he admitted to 'having a few shandies' before arriving at Goodison Park, with fans lapping it up on social media.

"It's brilliant," said Reid when asked to sum up his thoughts. "It's the best place in the world with the best people in the world, so you can't beat it. Outstanding. I'm very emotional at the moment, but mind you, I've had a few shandies."

Reid was then quizzed on what it was like to meet up with his fellow Everton legends for the occasion. He replied: "This place, the history of the place and the camaraderie is brilliant. I can't express it, if I'm honest. It's in my heart. They're brilliant."

The former midfielder helped Everton to win domestic and European honours during his spell at the club between 1982 and 1989.

In 1985, he was voted the fourth-best player in the world behind only Michel Platini, Preben Elkjaer and Diego Maradona.

Earlier this month, Reid was interviewed by Sky Sports for a segment on Everton's dramatic draw with Liverpool in February. The broadcaster was forced to apologise as Reid turned the air blue while discussing James Tarkowski's last-minute equaliser.

Quizzed on the lengthy VAR review, Reid said: "Someone said to me, you had two celebrations. You had one celebration [after the goal] and four minutes later another celebration. I said yeah, but what about the three f****** heart attacks I had in between?"

The interview was aired on Sky Sports News before midday with no bleep across Reid's swearing. Moments later, a ticker along the screen read: "We apologise for any bad language broadcast."
