Freeview confirms new channels in major shake-up - check your TV now

If you have a Freeview-powered TV in your living room, then you might want to head to the settings and perform a quick retune without delay. The popular telly service has just confirmed a swathe of changes that include some new channels launching and six services moving positions on the planner.

The bonus content that's now available arrives via EuroNews (Ch 257), It Is Written TV (Ch 286) and Trace UK (Ch 285) which all show news, religious programming and cultural entertainment.

Along with those additional platforms, there are also changes to the guide, which means some services are moving position.

For example, That's TV 2 MCR switches from Channel 86 to Channel 85 and TV Warehouse swaps from Channel 88 to Channel 87.

"On 26th March 2025 some broadcasters are making changes to their channels," Freeview explained.

"Channels are constantly evolving on Freeview with individual channels making the decision to move, add or remove channels. Freeview continues to ensure that audiences can enjoy a rich and varied content."

To make sure your screen stays up to date, it's vital that you now perform a settings check to get the planner in order and the new channels added.

"You will need to retune to update your TV and keep your channels and TV Guide up to date," Freeview added.

If you don't know how to retune your TV you'll find full details below.

HOW TO RETUNE YOUR FREEVIEW TV

Freeview has issued advice on how to retune devices, and here are the steps every user needs to follow.

• Press menu on your box or TV remote control

• Select ‘set-up’, ‘installation’, ‘update’ or a similar option. If you’re asked for a password, the default code is ‘1234’ or ‘0000’.

• Select ‘first-time installation’ (sometimes called ‘factory reset’, ‘full retune’ or ‘default settings’).

•Press ‘OK’ if your equipment asks if it's OK to delete existing channels and then your retune should start automatically. If you’re prompted to, save the channels that are found.
