Luke Littler targeted by ‘scum of the earth’ while playing darts exhibition in Norwich | Other | Sport

Luke Littler was left furious after being targeted by vandals while playing at an exhibition in Norwich. The reigning world champion was joined by legends Phil Taylor and Raymond van Barneveld for the MODUS Icons of Darts event in the Norfolk city. Littler made it to the final, where he defeated Luke Humphries in the newest instalment of their growing rivalry.

After the event, The Nuke was left shattered when he discovered the rear window of his van had been smashed in by vandals. He posted a picture on his Instagram story, which clearly showed the damage at the back of the Mercedes vehicle. Littler captioned the post: "Just trying to do an exhibition in Norwich and this happens, absolute scum of the earth."

The incident took place on the final day of the MODUS exhibition, which was held at Epic Studios in Norwich city centre. The organisation regularly hosts non-PDC tournaments involving current stars, social media influencers and icons of the past.

Littler's victory over Humphries in the final came just days after the pair were confirmed to be teaming up for next month's World Cup of Darts. They are the overwhelming favourites to claim the spoils in Frankfurt given their dominance in recent years.

Humphries is adamant that his star-studded partnership with Littler will live up to its billing, with Cool Hand insisting earlier this week that it will be extremely tough for any of their rivals to beat them.

"I think everybody is expecting us to win it and no one’s going to touch us," he told the Weekly Dartscast. "There are some great teams in there, the likes of Gezzy [Price] and Jonny [Clayton] are a potential banana skin.

"Gian van Veen is playing really well. Him and Danny [Noppert], if they get going, that’s a tough team. Gary [Anderson] and Peter [Wright], Peter’s playing better again now.

"These are all potential banana skins, but if me and Luke gel and everything goes well, it’s going to be an incredibly tough performance to beat us both."

There were doubts over Littler's participation at the World Cup when he declared he would not compete in Germany again until the European Championship in October. Humphries, though, never had any concerns.

"I saw Luke’s post and I knew straight away that he didn’t mean what he said," he added. "He probably forgot about the World Cup being in Germany. When I asked him about it he said: 'No, I'm definitely playing'. Of course he is.

"No-one’s going to turn down playing for England. You can never turn down playing for your country. I would never turn it down in a million years, no matter how tired I was, how ill I was. I’m putting on the England jersey, whether I’m dying or not."
