Arsenal’s pursuit of Viktor Gyokeres may soon accelerate thanks to the Almeria club president.

Sporting are keen to replace the Swedish striker with Almeria’s Luis Suarez this summer, but the forward has plenty of offer suitors which are pushing to strike a deal.

Almeria president Joao Goncalves has now revealed that his side won’t be waiting to specifically strike a deal with Sporting, which may force the Portuguese outfit to compromise on some of their demands for Gyokeres.

Goncalves told CNN Portugal: “Luis has had his best season, he's in the best moment of his career. 31 goals is a number any forward wants to achieve.

“We haven't had any official contact with Sporting to date. We haven't received any formal or informal contact, but we have with other clubs, and we're moving forward with negotiations with other clubs. We're managing our timing.”
