Amazon has kicked off the Prime Day sale by slashing £170 off a Shark Stratos vacuum cleaner. The Shark Stratos Cordless Stick Vacuum Cleaner Pet Pro has been reduced from £399 to £229 – a 42% price drop.

This beats Shark’s own £349.99 price tag and is the cheapest ever offered for this model, according to price tracker camelcamelcamel. Other standout deals in the Prime Day sale include the Shark Clean and Empty Cordless Vacuum Cleaner (£199.99) and the Shark Matrix Plus 2-in-1 Robot Vacuum Cleaner (£249.99)

The Shark Stratos is said to deliver the brand’s ‘best ever hair pick-up’, designed to tackle both carpet and hard floors. It also features Shark’s signature anti hair wrap plus technology that removes long and short hair from the brush-roll as it cleans.

This model also includes a motorised pet tool to remove embedded hair from upholstery, so it’s an ideal vacuum for pet owners. The Stratos features LED headlights in the brush head and Shark’s Clean Sense IQ technology, which automatically adjusts suction power when detecting hard-to-see dirt.

Shark says this results in up to 50% more pick-up compared to Eco mode. The vacuum also has a 60-minute run time and ‘Flexology’ wand, allowing it to bend beneath low-lying furniture and fold down for easy storage, while also boasting the ability to convert to a handheld vacuum.

Along with the vacuum, buyers will receive several accessories including a crevice tool, anti-allergen brush and multi-surface tool. The Amazon deal comes as Dyson launches its own summer event with £100s off vacuum cleaners like the Dyson V11 Extra, touted as ‘powerful, intelligent and versatile’ and now reduced from £499.99 to £399.99.

Those seeking a more affordable option can save £94 on the Hoover HF4 Cordless Vacuum Cleaner with Anti Hair Wrap with the code SUMMER35, taking the total to £135. For those sticking with Amazon, the Shark Stratos Cordless Stick Vacuum Cleaner Pet Pro has earned a 4.4-star rating from more than 3,000 reviews.

One happy customer said: “Fantastic for dog hair. Searched for ages for a vacuum that could cope with hair from our golden retriever. Have tried Vax, Dyson, G-Tech, but this Shark is brilliant. All the hair goes up the pipe and into the dustbin, whereas it chokes the bottom of the tube with the Vax and Dyson. Also the anti-wrap hair roller is such a relief.”

Another said: “Great and easy to use. We bought this to replace our old corded vacuum, which worked well but was quite heavy. This is lightweight, easy to use and offers great value for money compared to other well-known brands.”

However, the same buyer added: “The only downside with cordless models is the battery life, as it tends to decrease over time. Overall, I’d recommend it.”

While another five-star review said of the Shark Stratos: “I don’t think we will ever go back to Dyson, the Shark is excellent. I like that the battery comes off and we can charge it on the kitchen counter. It’s nice and light, the suction is excellent and the quality is great. Me and my daughter have long hair and this always affects the brush longevity. The Shark does exactly what it says. The brush is always clear and empty of hair.”
