Novak Djokovic has admitted this Wimbledon is his “best chance” to win a record-breaking 25th Grand Slam title. But the Serbian superstar, now 38, does not want his 20th appearance at SW19 to be his last dance here and said "I'm not sure" if he will return.

The seven-time Wimbledon winner drew level with Margaret Court with his 24th Major singles title at the 2023 US Open. Since then, the next generation of Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz have shared all six Grand Slam titles. Djokovic came closest when he lost the final here last year to Alcaraz and his last match was losing to Sinner in the French Open semi-finals.

And Djokovic, who is again bidding to equal Roger Federer’s record of eight Wimbledon singles titles, said: “It's great to be back. I love Wimbledon. I've always loved it. I think in the last six editions, I had six finals. Been for one reason or several reasons playing very well in Wimbledon, maybe the most consistently successful Grand Slam for me in the last 10 years.

“It's definitely connected to that emotional and mental relationship that I have with Wimbledon since the earliest stages of my tennis career where, as I said, I always dreamed of winning it.

“When I come here, I feel extra inspired to deliver the best tennis. And yes, I would probably agree that Wimbledon could be the best chance because of the results I had, because of how I feel, how I play in Wimbledon, just getting that extra push mentally and motivation to perform the best tennis at the highest level.”

“My wish is to play for several more years. I would love to be healthy physically and also mentally motivated to keep on playing at the highest level. That's the goal, but you never know at this stage.”

Djokovic is the last of the Big Four still playing and he is now chasing the new Big Two. “In a sense you're always hunting because you're always going for the titles - in my also privileged position - the records and more history,” he said. “I'll try to have a very good tournament and go as far as I can.”
