A popular ice lolly has been recalled from UK supermarkets over concerns it could pose a life-threatening risk to customers. Wall’s Mini Milk Vanilla Strawberry & Chocolate Ice Cream Lollies have been pulled from the shelves.

Unilever has been forced to pull the product after the packs display ingredients in Spanish rather than English. The affected lollies contain milk and may also contain pistachios, peanuts, and soya. These allergens were not clearly communicated in English on the packaging, leading to a potential health risk for those with intolerances or allergies.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has issued a national alert, warning consumers with allergies not to consume the product.

The FSA's risk statement reads: "This product contains milk and may contain nuts (pistachios), peanuts and soya making it a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents and/or an allergy to nuts (pistachios) and/or an allergy to peanuts and/or soya."

The recall is on 10-pack boxes of 35ml lollies. Shoppers are being advised to check their freezers for 35ml multipacks with product information written in Spanish and the Batch Codes L5123, L5126, L5127, L5128, L5129, L5141 and L5142 with the Best Before Date of 05/2027.

Supermarkets have placed in-store recall notices to inform customers of the issue, while Unilever has also issued an apology, clarifying that no other Wall’s products are affected.

Unilever said in a statement: "We apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your co-operation."

The FSA stated that Unilever is recalling the product and has been instructed to get in touch with the appropriate allergy support organisations.

For a refund or additional information, customers with allergy concerns who have been affected by the recall are being told to contact the Unilever careline team.
