Gen Z and Millennials lead the charge in reviving 90s fashion trends

Brits have spoken - and it's a resounding thumbs-up for 90s fashion. From Doc Martens to 'The Rachel' haircut, a poll of 2,000 adults has revealed the nation's most treasured trends from the iconic era. Baggy jeans, crimped hair, perms, and statement leather or denim jackets were revealed as some of the era's most unforgettable fashion stapes. Other nostalgic favourites included shell suits, high ponytails, and the classic little black dress.

When it comes to the decade's fashion impact, Brit-pop, hip-hop, and grunge emerged as the leading trends, influencing styles that still dominate today's catwalks and high streets. As for celebrity hairstyles, Jennifer Aniston's legendary "Rachel" cut, Johnny Depp's effortlessly tousled locks, and Victoria Beckham's sleek Posh bob continue to inspire.

The UK's most iconic fashion moments were found to be Princess Diana's revenge dress, Geri Halliwell's Union Jack frock at the BRIT Awards, and Liz Hurley's Versace safety pin gown.

Ashley Birch-Ruffell, spokesperson for FUNKIN COCKTAILS, which commissioned the survey ahead of its new 90s classic cocktail, the Apple Sour Martini, said: "90s fashion is very much in vogue, and it's entertaining to see what our official favourite styles are.

"There are clearly many iconic hairstyles and memorable moments from this decade that live on in the public consciousness. It seems clear that 90s trends aren't going anywhere anytime soon – and why would we want them to."

These timeless looks are clearly here to stay, with Gen Z and Millennials leading the charge in embracing 90s fashion as a significant influence on their current style choices.

Surprisingly, despite many having not lived through the time, three quarters of Gen Z yearn for the 90s, while less than two in 10 Boomers share that sentiment. The study suggests both Gen Z and Millennials are keen to rewind to the 90s for a single night, longing to revel in its unique fashion and cultural aura.

When it comes to those absolutely nailing the 90s aesthetic today, Harry Styles, Billie Eilish, and Rihanna are celebrated as the top style mavens leading the throwback craze.

In celebration of their Apple Sour Martini launch, FUNKIN COCKTAILS has joined forces with London's Duck and Dry hair salon to offer complimentary 90s hair makeovers alongside samplings of their canned Nitro cocktail.

Ashley remarked: "It's clear that the whole culture of the 90s is still considered unapologetically iconic and we wanted to deliver the perfect cocktail to match that vibe – as well as helping people level up their 90s aesthetic."
