King Charles has reportedly been paid millions of pounds by Hollywood bosses for allowing them to film next to Windsor Castle. Marvel Studios, which is owned by Disney, is believed to have paid a fortune to the monarch, 76, to allow them to film the latest Marvel superhero movie in Windsor Great Park.

While it is not known exactly when filming for the new movie Avengers: Doomsday will take place in Windsor, it is believed scenes will be shot by the castle over the summer. The movie is set to have an impressive cast, including Chris Hemsworth as Thor and Tom Hiddleston as Loki.

As Ranger of Windsor Great Park, the King is aware of what filming will entail, and is likely to be away for the summer holidays at Balmoral in Scotland when cast and crew descend on the park.

As reported by The Sun, the money paid by Marvel Studios is going towards maintaining the park, which is owned by Crown Estates.

It is not known exactly how much the final location fees were.

A source told The Sun: “Several million pounds is chicken feed to Marvel when their movies make billions.

“But the money will go to the upkeep of Windsor Great Park so the King of course has a keen interest.”

The source continued: “Some of the profits of Crown Estates make their way to the Royal Family so it’s a win-win for everyone.”

It is not known whether any members of the Royal Family will go down to the set to watch filming take place.
