Nobody likes cleaning the bathroom, but nevertheless it's a very important task. It's one of the most unhygienic rooms in the house, so keeping on top of the scrubbing, washing and wiping is key. 

However, no matter how often you clean, black mould can start to appear - especially around areas like the shower and bath. This is because these warm, damp environments provide the perfect conditions for mould to thrive. But instead of reaching for the bleach to blast it away, you might want to try a different approach instead. 

Cleaning TikToker Anna Louisa At Home, author of the Five Minute Clean Routine, often shares helpful tips and advice on social media with her 1.2 million followers. 

Aiming to help people out with their black mould woes in the bathroom, she shared an easy trick that will banish the unsightly black marks without using any bleach at all. 

In the video's caption, she said: "Using chlorine bleach on mould will get rid of it but won't kill it as it doesn't kill the spore, meaning it will come back."

She added: "It also creates an incredibly toxic gas when used on mould. So to get rid of the mould for good in a safe way, try this instead."

All you need is some hydrogen peroxide and tea tree essential oil if you're dealing with the issue of mould in your shower. And the hack is so simple to do as well. 

Simply mix one cup of three percent hydrogen peroxide with one teaspoon of the essential oil in a spray bottle, and apply it all over the mould until soaked. 

Then, cover with tissue paper and spray again until the tissue is soaked through as well. Leave it to sit for at least one hour, which will give the ingredients enough time to work their magic. 

After one hour is up, remove the tissue and give any remaining marks a quick scrub if you need to. However, you should find that the mould has disappeared, leaving your shower or sink looking fresh and clean once again. 

Give it one final wipe and rinse, and then you're done. This is a lot less harsh than bleach, but works just as well to banish black mould spots.
