Man Utd set to face second striker rejection as forgotten Prem star 'unconvinced' by move | Football | Sport

Manchester United’s striker search is set to continue as they look set to be rejected by a second target. Ruben Amorim is desperate to shake up his front line this summer, and he has already welcomed Matheus Cunha to his ranks following his £62.5million move from Wolves.

The Red Devils are locked in talks with Brentford for Bryan Mbeumo too, and they were firmly in the race to sign Liam Delap before the No.9 opted to head to Chelsea rather than Old Trafford due to their offering of Champions League.

Though Delap is not the only player who looks set to reject an approach from Amorim’s side. According to TuttoMercatoWeb, United closely scouted Moise Keane last season following his impressive campaign in the Serie A.

However, the Fiorentina star is ‘not entirely convinced’ by the interest from the Red Devils due to how they will not be playing Champions League football next season – having lost to Tottenham in the Europa League final.

Kean also feels that United already have plenty of options in the final third already and therefore he does not feel like he is guaranteed to be a regular starter. Instead, the ex-Everton forward would favour a move to a top European side where he would be their ‘first choice’ striker.

The Italy international scored 25 goals in 44 appearances for Fiorentina in all competitions last season and won’t be short of suitors now that he is starting to live up to the expectations that saw him dubbed one of the most exciting youngsters in Europe previously.

It remains to be seen whether the Red Devils look to convince Kean of their project, and any sales would visibly clear the pathway for the 25-year-old to feature regularly at the Theatre of Dreams. Rasmus Hojlund is expected to leave the club after an underwhelming few seasons at the club, with Inter Milan leading the race to secure his signature.

Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Antony are also expected to be moved on after their respective loan deals were all not made permanent – with Chelsea failing to reach an agreement with Sancho on personal terms after his stint at Stamford Bridge. The trio of sales would raise funds for a move for Kean, and also ensure that Cunha is viewed as an option as a wide 10 rather than up top.
