Arsenal have confirmed that 20 players will leave the club this summer. A list including men's, women's and academy stars also reveals that the Gunners remain in talks with midfielder Thomas Partey over a new contract.

Midfielder Jorginho and defender Kieran Tierney will both leave Arsenal this summer. Tierney has already agreed to return to Celtic, from whom he joined the north Londoners for £25million in 2019. Loanees Raheem Sterling and Neto have returned to Chelsea and Bournemouth, respectively, after Arsenal decided against making their deals permanent. Nathan Butler-Oyedeji and Jack Henry-Francis, who both featured in first-team matchday squads last season, are other notable departees. Women's first-team players Lina Hurtig, Teyah Goldie and Amanda Ilestedt will also find new clubs.

Head coach Mikel Arteta confirmed that he is keen for Partey to extend his future with the club. Arsenal remain in talks with the Ghana international, 31, in addition to England women's star Chloe Kelly and academy defender Michal Rosiak.

Asked whether he was keen to keep Partey, Arteta insisted: “Yes. I think consistency-wise it’s been his best season. The way he’s played, performed, his availability, has been exceptional and he’s a really important player for us.”

Partey could have further competition in midfield next season. Martin Zubimendi is widely expected to arrive from Real Sociedad in a £51m deal, a year on from him snubbing Arsenal's Premier League rivals, Liverpool.

Also leaving Arsenal this summer are Reece Clairmont, Khayon Edwards, Jakai Fisher, Romari Forde, Jimi Gower, Max Kuczynski, Salah-Eddine Oulad M’Hand, Ismail M’Hand, Brian Okonkwo, Elian Quesada-Thorn and Zacariah Shuaib.

Arsenal said in a statement: “We thank all the players leaving us for their contributions to the club. You will always be part of the Arsenal family and we wish you all the best of health and happiness in your futures. Any further developments regarding players extending their contracts, as well as joining/re-joining, or leaving us, will be officially communicated when confirmed.”

Having finished second to Premier League champions Liverpool by 10 points, Arsenal are expected to conduct a busy summer of activity. Bolstering their midfield and forward line is understood to be a priority.

A new centre-forward is likely to arrive at the Emirates Stadium. Benjamin Sesko and Viktor Gyokeres are both widely reported to be under consideration, although Arsenal will have strong competition for both players.
