Video images have captured the dramatic moment a Russian fuel train was hit by Ukrainian drones in the occupied parts of the Zaporizhzhia region. Kyiv's forces have skilfully used drones to attack Russian logistical supply lines deep behind enemy lines.

The UAVS have consistently targeted energy depots, ammunition warehouses and industrial sites producing weapons and parts for the Kremlin's army. The aim is to cause as much disruption as possible to supplies essential for Vladimir Putin's war machine. Strike drone operators from Ukraine's Defence Intelligence Active Operations Units successfully tracked and hit a Russian military train carrying fuel on Saturday, May 24.

The train was travelling between Verkhniy Tokmak, Molochansk, and Fedorivka and was several carriages long.

Video image from a kamikaze drone shows it approaching the moving train, before slamming into one of the carriages.

Aerial footage then showed the train stationary, with several wagons engulfed by a raging fire.

The Defence Intelligence of Ukraine (DIU) said at least three carriages had been hit in the attack.

The rail line is used to supply Russian troops in the occupied areas of Zaporizhzhia and Crimea.

The DIU added: "The armed campaign to dismantle and paralyse the enemy's military logistics continues. Glory to Ukraine!"

This came hours before, on Sunday evening, Moscow's mayor issued new drone alerts as UAVS were detected heading to the Russian capital.

Sergey Sobyanin claimed that Russian air defence systems had so far successfully shot down the approaching drones.

He also said emergency services had arrived at the crash sites and were dealing with the situation.

Meanwhile, Russia launched another intense aerial bombardment of Ukrainian cities on Saturday night.

At least 12 people, including three children, were killed and dozens more were injured in the widespread strikes.
