Viewers are completely 'gripped' by a 2014 war film with a star-studded cast and emotional scenes that capture the final days of World War II. The "must-see" war film Fury sees Brad Pitt take on the role of an American soldier leading a squad in scenes that fans find hard to watch.

First released in 2014, the blockbuster movie is directed by David Ayer, best known for his work within the action genre, with the likes of The Fast and the Furious and Suicide Squad. Set in April 1945, with the allies making their final push in the European Theatre, Fury shows a hard-hitting army sergeant named Wardaddy, played by Pitt, commanding a five-man crew. As they take on a deadly mission, the team are not only outnumbered but outgunned with the task of defending a hospital from SS troops.

Only making it worse is the team's new and inexperienced machine gunner, Norman, played by Logan Lerman, who has no choice but to learn on the job if he wants a chance at survival. He is fresh-faced and shaken by the horrors of war but soon finds himself integrated and together,m the soldiers do all they can to arry out their mission alive.

The film garnered an 86% Popcornmeter score on Rotten Tomoates (which is audience driven), while it recieved 76% on the critics score.

A Rotten Tomatoes review states: "What makes Fury so great is we see the toll war took on these men in a gritty, sombre way. Fury isn't a gung ho kind of war movie. The director makes it all about the people & not the war. It's one of the most personable war films I've ever seen."

Another viewer added: "Great acting, harrowing combat scenes and a sacrifice like no other. Fury strikes me as one of the most “real” war movies of our time. The protagonist is faced with a sacrifice like no other, trifling with the existing combat movies made. Action-packed with a gripping plot, Fury is a must-see."

Many film fans have praised the cast for their acting, specifically that of leading actor Brad Pitt. One viewer wrote: "The story of war, brotherhood, and family packed into 5 incredible actors who absolutely killed it on screen."

While another review claimed: "With a strong cast and intense storytelling, it’s a powerful reminder of the kind of character-driven war movies we rarely see anymore." This could be down to the intense preparation the cast underwent prior to filming.

It's thought that ahead of joining forces, the cast were made to take part in an intensive week-long boot camp run by Navy SEALs. Pitt has previously shared the vigorous routines they carried out, from 5 am mornings to physical forfeits, and it's this prep that helped to fuel their gritty roles.

A viewer wrote: "What really stands out about Fury is how raw and gritty it feels. The battles are chaotic and terrifying, and the film doesn’t shy away from showing how brutal war is. The tank scenes are some of the most intense I’ve ever seen in a movie—you feel the claustrophobia inside the tank and the constant danger outside. It’s loud, dirty, and unrelenting, which makes it all feel so real."

To watch Brad Pitt star in the intense war scenes captured in Fury, the film is available to stream now on Amazon Prime.
