Netflix have announced that a new World War II film is set to hit the popular streaming service - much to the delight of fans. Peter Berg's The Mosquito Bowl: A Game Of Life And Death In World War II is currently in the making and fans are already expecting it to be "incredible", with a star-studded line up recently confirmed.

Smile 2 star, Ray Nicholson, and Sunset Boulevard's Tom Francis have been announced to be joining the cast, with Nicholas Galitzine and Bill Skarsgård having been previously announced. The upcoming film will see the aftermath of the attack on Pearl Harbor. Four of America’s top College Football stars set their fame aside to enlist in the Marines.

As they prepare for the brutal invasion of Okinawa, they’ll play in a legendary game featuring some of the greatest players in history – a game that, for many, will be the last they ever play.

Director and producer, Berg, is set to see more success on Netflix after his limited series American Primeval spent four weeks in Netflix’s Global Top 10 TV (English) and racked up 35.1 million views following its debut in January. On social media, fans have already shared their excitement for the upcoming new film.

“Bela [Bajaria, Netflix’s Chief Content Officer] and the entire team at Netflix have been tremendous partners to me, both in film and television,” Berg told Netflix. “I cherish this partnership and feel fully supported as I continue on this beautiful, creative odyssey. LFG!”

Applauding the incredible casting, one fan shared on Reddit: "I can't wait! Bill Skarsgard and Nick... together??? Yesss please!" Another added: "Oh I KNOW this is going to be good," while a third echoed: "Can’t wait for this. It'll be incredible."

While many were excited by the cast, others were not too sure about the plot of the film. " Two of my favorite white men!! But the description of the movie seems kinda [grimace emoji]," one predicted.

Another added: "In my opinion, the plot doesn't sound very interesting. I'm afraid of lofty dialogues and waving the American flag." One more complained: "This kind of story/movie has been done only a million other times."
