A cleaning guru has shared how she tackles unwanted grease in her kitchen. Chantel Mila, more commonly known as Mama Mila on TikTok, detailed how she uses two ingredients to get her kitchen cupboards sparkling again.

Like many cleaning fans, Chantel touted baking soda as a key ingredient in her homemade recipe. This time she paired the baking soda with lemon juice - as well as some water - to help remove grease. Chantel promised that her homemade recipe “cuts through grime” and keeps her cabinets grease-free.

What’s even better is that there is no scrubbing required, so it won’t be a laborious task.

How to remove grease from kitchen cabinets

Add a quarter cup of baking soda to a bowl, followed by one teaspoon of lemon juice. Then pour in one cup of water, mixing all of the ingredients together.

Wipe the solution onto your cabinets and cupboards with a cloth. Leave the solution on for five minutes.

Once time is up, wipe away with warm water. The beauty of this homemade remedy is that it needs no vigorous scrubbing.

Baking soda is a great ingredient to use to get rid of grease due to its alkaline nature. This helps to neutralise the acid in grease, allowing it to be easily lifted when cleaned.

As baking soda is a mild abrasive, this also helps to lift any stubborn grease or food-particles. Chantel mixes baking soda with lemon juice, which contains citric acid.

Citric acid helps to remove grease by breaking it down and dispersing it into smaller particles. Due to its mild acid nature, citric acid helps to dissolve mineral deposits and grime, including grease.

When baking soda and citric acid are mixed together, their varying pH levels help target different types of dirt and grime. Baking soda, being a base, is good for neutralizing acids and removing grease and grime, while citric acid, being an acid, is effective at removing limescale and mineral deposits.

Chantel’s video has already been viewed over 242,100 times, receiving 3,553 likes and 22 comments. A number of people praised the TikToker for her simple method, with Jessica simply saying: “Amazingggg.”

Brooklyn commented, “Going to be trying,” while Alise wrote, “This mix looks like a game-changer for kitchen cleaning! Definitely going to try it.”

Lana agreed: “This cleaning mix sounds like a game changer! Definitely giving it a try to tackle those tough spots.”
