Martin Lewis has shared his favourite book and it’s a popular title many are familiar with. The well-known financial expert and founder of MoneySavingExpert.com, is known for his advice on money matters and helping people make informed decisions.

But beyond his financial knowledge, Martin has spoken about his love for the fantasy genre and once named Game of Thrones as one of his favourite reads. Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin is a book that became even more popular after it was adapted into a hit television series. Despite being set in a fantastical world filled with dragons, magic, and ancient lore, the novel is rooted in human behaviour - greed, ambition, loyalty and betrayal.

Martin Lewis’s appreciation for the novel shows that even the most rational minds can enjoy stories of fiction.

Speaking to BBC, Martin Lewis said: “Most of my reading tends to be escapism - I like historic novels or science fantasy.

“Now it isn’t my favourite science fantasy novel but it is the biggest.

"So, I’ve never actually watched the programmes but if I’m allowed the complete collection of Game of Thrones - it’s 5000 pages, it’s in the right genre and I think it's one of those series you could re-read a few times and just take up a bit of time with it.”

The journalist shared the insight on BBC’s Desert Island Discs in which he shared some of his favourite songs and other information about his life.

Martin grew up in Cheshire and studied at the London School of Economics.

After a brief spell working in financial PR, he took a postgraduate course in broadcast journalism with the aim of becoming a commentator on money matters, and he initially worked as a producer and presenter on radio and TV.

Today, he has become a well-known household name for his financial advice which has helped many Brits to save money and to understand their finances.
