Everything you need to know about creating and managing digital signage screens with infoScreen.

infoScreen is a digital signage platform that lets you design, manage and display information screens — on TVs, monitors, and any screen with a web browser. No technical knowledge required.

✅ What you can do with infoScreen

Design beautiful screens with widgets: clock, weather, news ticker, images, videos, PDF documents, price lists, maps, internet radio, queue numbers and alert notices.

Create multiple scenes per screen — each scene is a full layout that plays for a set duration, then automatically transitions to the next.

Schedule scenes to show only on specific days, times, or date ranges.

All screens update live — when you save in the builder, connected TVs update within seconds.

infoScreen works on any device with a modern web browser — smart TVs, Chrome, Firefox, Edge, or a Raspberry Pi.

Login

Go to the login page

Enter your username and password

Use the credentials you were given when your account was created.

You are now in the dashboard

From here you can manage all your screens, upload media, and open the builder.

If you forgot your password, contact your administrator.

Add a New Screen

Go to Screen Manager

Click "Add Screen" or "New Screen"

Give your screen a name (e.g. "Reception TV", "Waiting Room").

A unique screen key is generated

This key (e.g. 67B918B) identifies your screen. Keep it safe — you need it to open the player on your TV.

Click "Open Builder" to start designing

The canvas builder opens and you can start adding content.

You can have multiple screens — one for reception, one for a waiting room, one for a shop window — each with a completely different layout.

The Canvas Builder

The builder is where you design what your screen looks like. It has a canvas in the center and a sidebar on the left with tabs.

💾 Saving your work

Click Save Layout at the bottom of the sidebar. Your screen key must be entered in the field above the save button.

After saving, any TV that has your player open will automatically update within 8 seconds.

Use Ctrl+Z to undo and Ctrl+Y to redo. You can undo up to 40 steps.

Canvas Background

Open the BG tab to set your canvas background.

Image backgroundUpload or paste a URL for a background image. Choose Cover or Contain fit
The 4-color gradient mode is perfect for modern-looking screens. Try dark blues and cyans for a tech feel, or warm tones for a welcoming atmosphere.

Widgets

Widgets are the building blocks of your screen. Click any widget in the ADD tab to place it on the canvas. Then select it and open the WGT tab to configure it.

Add any text. Customize font, size, color, shadow and spacing.

Place an image from your gallery or paste a URL.

Slideshow of images, videos and PDFs with individual durations and effects.

MP4 file or YouTube URL. Supports autoplay, mute, loop.

Display a PDF — single page, full viewer, or auto slideshow page by page.

Live scrolling news ticker or card layout. Supports multiple feeds.

Live weather for any city. Shows temperature, wind, humidity and 7-day forecast.

🎨 Widget styling options

Every widget has these common settings in the WGT tab:

You can drag widgets anywhere on the canvas. Hold Shift + Arrow keys to nudge by 10px. Arrow keys alone nudge by 1px.

Layers

Everything on the canvas is a layer. Layers stack on top of each other. Open the LYR tab to see all layers.

Name your layers in the layer panel so you can find them easily. Double-click the layer name to rename it.

Media Upload

Upload images, videos, PDFs and audio files directly from the ADD tab.

Click the "⊕ Upload image / video / PDF" button

Select your file

The file uploads and appears in the gallery below immediately.

Click it in the gallery to add to canvas

Images are added directly. Videos create a Video widget. PDFs create a PDF Viewer. Audio creates a Radio widget.

Each screen has its own media folder. Files uploaded in one screen's builder are stored separately.
To delete a file, click the × button on the thumbnail in the gallery. This permanently deletes the file and cannot be undone.

Managing Scenes

A scene is one full screen layout. You can have multiple scenes per screen — they play in sequence like a playlist, each for a set duration.

Open the SCN tab

You see a list of all scenes for this screen.

Click a scene to edit it

The canvas switches to that scene. Any changes you make are saved to that scene.

Click "+ Add Scene" to create a new one

Set a name and duration. Design the canvas. Save.

Each scene has its own canvas with its own background and widgets. Think of scenes as slides in a presentation.

Scheduling Scenes

You can make scenes show only at specific times, on specific days, or within a date range. Scenes with a ⏰ icon have a schedule set.

If no scenes are active due to scheduling, the player falls back to the default scene (Scene 1).

Scene Transitions

Each scene has a transition effect that plays when switching to the next scene.

For professional screens, use Fade or Dissolve. Slide effects work well for news/menu boards.

The Player — Setting Up Your TV

The player is what runs on your TV or display. It loads your screen layout and plays it fullscreen, updating automatically when you save changes in the builder.

Find your screen key

Your screen key is shown in the builder (bottom of sidebar) and in Screen Manager. Example: 67B918B

Open the player URL on your TV

Replace YOUR_SCREEN_KEY with your actual key.

Set the browser to fullscreen

Press F11 on Windows or use the browser's fullscreen option. The player will automatically scale to fit any screen size.

The screen is now live

The TV checks for updates every 8 seconds. When you save in the builder, the TV will show the new layout automatically.

💡 Tips for TV setup

On Smart TVs: Use the built-in browser app and bookmark the player URL.

On Any screen: Connect a small PC, laptop, or Raspberry Pi and open the player in Chrome.

To auto-start on boot: Set the browser homepage to the player URL and enable "restore last session" in browser settings.

You can preview a specific scene by adding &scene=SCENE_ID to the player URL. Each scene has a ▶ preview button in the builder that does this automatically.
