A BBC legend has revealed details of an affair he conducted behind his wife's back with a sex worker. Radio star 'Diddy' David Hamilton has openly discussed his infidelity with a sex worker whilst shockingly declaring that "having children spoils a marriage".

The 87 year old broadcaster held nothing back as he recounted his turbulent personal history. He rose to prominence on BBC radio following his arrival at the corporation during the 1970s. However, he acknowledges that behind the scenes, things weren't quite as they appeared, reports the Mirror. Diddy initially married Sheila Moore in 1962.

He was 24 years old at the time and the pair subsequently welcomed two children, Jane and David Jr. Nevertheless, their relationship faltered and the couple separated in 1970. Speaking to Best magazine, he has now revealed everything about his romantic entanglement that destroyed their marriage: "I was happily married. Until I fell in love with someone else," he admitted. He described how he would rendezvous with the woman at Liverpool Street station.

"I just looked at her and thought, 'wow'. I think if anything spoils a marriage, it's children. Suddenly, the man is taking a back seat.

"Then he meets someone young free and single and thinks, 'Crikey, I could go back to that happy state I was in before.'"

Diddy disclosed that his wife uncovered his affair because of how frequently he mentioned the woman.

He confessed he was "head over heels" and chose to relocate and begin afresh with the lady.

Ultimately, they remained together for four years. The radio personality opened up about his past relationship with an escort, revealing: "She asked if I would open her new shop, and how much I'd charge. I said '£500'. She told me she charged £100 for her services, so 'If you give me five I'll give you one.'"

He initially thought it would be a fleeting encounter, but confessed that they quickly grew fond of each other, leading him to admit he was "getting in too deep".

Nowadays, Diddy is happily married to his second wife, aerobics instructor Dreena. They've been wed since 1993, despite warnings from her friends about his reputation as a womaniser.

However, he seems to have proven them wrong, proudly stating that they've been together for 40 years and married for 30. He humorously added that their relationship works because his wife "doesn't take any c**p from me".

Recently, Diddy expressed his willingness to sell his private car registration plate, feeling it has been "sullied" by rapper Sean Combs, who shares the same nickname. Combs was sentenced to just over four years in prison last week after being found guilty on two counts of transportation for prostitution.

Speaking to The Times, the radio presenter shared: "I once spent £5,000 on a "D1DDY" personalised number plate for a Mini Cooper I had, but it's not on a car at the moment. I would sell it, but it's not a good time because I keep reading about that Diddy guy in America who is up in front of the beak - he has sullied my name."
