Dame Joan Collins received overwhelming support after posting a  touching tribute to her late mother, Elsa, on Instagram. In the emotional clip, the Hollywood icon could be seen standing in front of her mum’s grave as she announced: “Today is a beautiful day in October, and I’m visiting my mother’s grave. Mum died over 60 years ago; she was only 52 years old.” The actress added: “The dreaded breast cancer got her, and I’ve come here with my brother Billy to take care of the grave, and it’s looking very good.” As Joan looked at her mum’s burial site, which she decorated with hydrangeas, she announced: “Miss you, mamma.”

Alongside flowers, the grave was also adorned with a large heart-shaped stone ornament which read: “A token of love and affection from granddaughters Tracy and Tara.” The tear-jerking headstone described Elsa as the beloved wife of Joe Collins and darling mother to Joan, Jackie and Bill, who died 8th May 1962.” In the caption, the Dynasty star penned: “On a beautiful Autumn day, I visited my Mother Elsa’s grave, which has recently been restored. She died much too young at only fifty-two. RIP Mama.”

Joan was flooded with support from thousands of her Instagram followers as one commented: “52! Wow that’s so young. She would have been so proud of both her girls.”

“So sorry for your loss, I’m sure she knew her daughters were destined for great things,” said a second.

As a third shared: “Sending all my love to you and your family Joan.”

“Bless your beloved Mother. Our loved ones always leave an enormous gap in our lives,” added another.

One remarked: “What a beautiful thing to do and restore so beautifully your dear Mum’s grave. May she rest in peace. Sending love and light.”

“Always sad to lose a beloved parent, especially one who passed when she was so young. RIP Elsa Collins,” continued a sixth.

The actress previously opened up about being 29 when she discovered her mother had cancer and recalled: “Jackie told me, but we were told it wasn't that serious, and nobody ever said the word cancer. Cancer was a word in the 1960s, you just didn't say.

“We were told it was just a very bad, flu-like illness, even though I knew she'd had very bad mastectomy, but we didn't talk about it.”

During an appearance on Piers Morgan’s Life Stories, Joan explained: “We were in my childhood house, and daddy came in and said, 'She's gone'. And I went in and she was lying there and she had gone.

“And I called my sister, my brother was there, he was only 14, and yes it was very upsetting, and you have made me cry, Piers!”

Joan went on to say that she wished her mother had survived to meet her own three children, grandchildren, and see her stellar career.
