Details of The Marlow Murder Club's third season have been released, including the new additions to the star-studded cast and the plot.

The hit drama will return to TV screens next year, with filming having recently concluded. It's been revealed that the third series will feature three gripping new murder mysteries, told across the course of six episodes.

A number of guest stars are due to appear, one of which is Peter Davison, who many will recognise as Arnold Finch in BBC's Death in Paradise. He takes on the role of Geoffrey, who will appear in episodes one and two.

Joining Peter is EastEnders star Nigel Harman as Marcus, Carnival Row's Jacqueline Boatswain as Debbie, Art Detectives star Sarah Alexander playing Sophia, The Larkins' Tony Gardner as Terrence and Waterloo Road star Jason Merrells playing Paul.

The guest stars join The Marlow Murder Club's leads Samantha Bond, who plays Judith Potts, Jo Martin as Suzie Harris, Cara Horgan as Becks Starling and Natalie Dew as DI Tanika Malik.

Episodes three and four welcome comedy legend Harry Enfield, known for starring in Miss Marple - The Moving Finger, who will play Hector.

The final two episodes of the series will see more iconic guest stars appear in the form of Strike's Cherie Lunghi, Joy star Adrian Lukis and The Crown actor Alastair Mackenzie, who will play Marian, Matthew and Ferdy, respectively.

Elsewhere, we will see Hugh Quarshie reprise his role as Professor Darius Gifford, Phill Langhorne return as DC Brendan Perry, Holli Dempsey reprise her role as DC Alice Hackett and Tijan Sarr back as DC Jason Kennedy.

The full synopsis for series three of The Marlow Murder Club reads: "Now an established part of newly promoted DI Tanika Malik’s crime solving gang, retired archaeologist Judith Potts, dog walker Suzie Harris, and vicar’s wife Becks Starling are back and bringing their unconventional methods to a string of high-profile murders.

"From the sudden death of the town’s beloved mayor - the nicest man in Marlow - to a celebrity chef found dead at the launch of his cookbook with half the town in attendance, the team will be working under the watchful eye of the Marlow community.

"They’ll also be called to action at a university reunion in an eerie manor house where in a surprising twist, Becks finds herself amongst the suspects. Could this case threaten our amateur sleuths’ roles as civilian advisors?"

Daniel Rusteau and Robert Thorogood co-wrote episodes one and two of the new series, while Amy Reith penned episodes three and four, with Julia Gilbert taking control of episodes five and six. The series is an adaptation of the book Queen of Poisons, penned by Robert.

The Marlow Murder Club series three will comprise of six hour-long episodes. The series is a co-commission with co-producer and US broadcaster MASTERPIECE and produced by Monumental Television, in association with ITV Studios.
