When Strictly Come Dancing brought professional dancer Dianne Buswell and YouTuber Joe Sugg together in 2018, few could have predicted that their partnership would blossom into one of the show's most beloved real-life romances. Since then, the couple have been inseparable, with fans watching them grow together and build a life beyond the glitz and glamour of the ballroom. In 2020, Dianne opened up about what she truly thought about Joe during their very first rehearsal. Dianne, 36, shared a video on her Instagram Story, taken on the day the couple trained together for the first time.

The Australian dancer admitted they "had an absolute ball" together. She added: "The lols were endless. Things I learnt about Joe... he doesn't know what an Americano is. "He eats his food really slowly and he has a really long neck." Despite reaching the final of the BBC show, the pair narrowly missed out on the Glitterball trophy to Stacey Dooley and Kevin Clifton. Last month, Dianne and Joe, 34, announced they were expecting their first child together in a heartwarming Instagram post.

Set to Elton John’s Tiny Dancer, the footage featured the couple ‘painting’ three stick figures, with “2026” written above the drawing. "Our little baby boy we cannot wait to meet you," they captioned the post.

The professional dancer returned to Strictly following her 2024 win with Chris McCausland, making history as the first ever dancer to perform while pregnant.

However, Dianne has faced backlash from some fans, who criticised her decision to remain on the show while pregnant, with a few even calling for her to step down.

The mum-to-be recently shared an image featuring a negative comment she had received.

It read: "I don't want to see her dance being pregnant, it's already feeling uncomfortable and she's only starting to show. It's not appropriate."

Snapping back, Dianne fumed: "I can't believe in 2025 things like this are still being said."

The professional dancer, who is partnered with Australian actor Stefan Dennis, revealed she was advised to take extra caution when performing lifts during their routines.

Speaking to her former dance partner Chris on his Winning Isn’t Everything podcast, Dianne said: "Because we did quite a lot of lifts that were quite high impact. Well, look, I'm still doing everything that I did before. Obviously, with lifts, there's just going to be a bit more caution.

“But my doctor said that everything is normal. He said, basically, if you've done it before, like in terms of you're a dancer, you've done lifts, you've done this, you've done that, then crack on and keep doing what you were doing."

“He said, because you've danced since you were five, literally, this is what your body's meant to do. He said, you shouldn't stop what you do. So obviously, with lifts, you just do it with caution.”
