In a final effort to be given a softer sentence, Combs wrote a lengthy letter to Judge Arun Subramanian, as reported in The Sun.
In his four-page apology, he apologised "for all of the hurt and pain that I have caused."
Referencing an assault on his ex, Cassie Ventura, he wrote: "I literally lost my mind. I'm sorry for that and always will be. My domestic violence will always be a heavy burden that I will have to forever carry."
Elsewhere, he said: "The old me died in jail and a new version of me was born. Prison will change you or kill you - I choose to live."
