Andy Burnham for Prime Minister – don’t make me laugh. The man’s a 24-carat dud. And replacing Starmer with him would just be replacing one weak, indecisive, cack-handed incompetent for another. Only the faces would change. Actually, not true because they both look like expressionless, dead-behind-the-eyes clones. And the fact is under Burnham Labour’s policies would be worse – punitive and divisive and they’d wreck the country quicker than Starmer’s. Still, the prospect of Andy Pandy becoming PM has obviously put the wind up old Starmer who’s come out screaming he’d be “worse than Lis Truss” and he’d “inflict harm on working people”.

Which is a bit rich from the bloke who has inflicted more harm on working people (AND pensioners) than any PM in living memory. But back to Burnham. He’s twice failed twice to win the labour leadership mainly because he’s hopeless, uninspiring and couldn’t lead a scout troop let alone a country. First time he stood in 2010, he came fourth out of five candidates. Then against Corbyn in 2015, he came a distant second – getting 19% of the vote with Corbyn on 59%.

Not in a million years is this man leadership material and, in his heart, he knows it. It’s why he fled Westminster into local politics after Labour’s last monumental defeat. And the fact some are now telling him he’s Labour’s saviour shows how far down the rabbit hole the whole party has gone.

They’ve got 399 sitting MPs but, apparently, not one of them is fit to be leader. So, they’re looking at a bloke who doesn’t have a seat, might never get one and has been in local politics for years achieving not very much!

In his interviews this week where he was setting out his leadership stall – although he doesn’t quite have the guts to say if he’s going stand against Starmer – he says he’ll soak the rich with wealth taxes, raise council tax, and borrow billions to build new homes (for migrants presumably).

But Labour’s already done all that and the result is 20,000 millionaires have fled, taking their cash and their business with them, and they’ve been replaced by 50,000 penniless illegal asylum seekers. But still Burnham wants to borrow more – even though we owe three TRILLION and have a £50billion black hole in the public finances.

Same old Labour policies. Same old ruinous ideologies. And who exactly christened him King of The North? I suspect he did it himself because looking at what he’s done – or not done for Manchester – it won’t be Mancunians.

What was telling in his self-promoting interviews this week is that he talked about how his party feels fearful, alienated and demoralised under Starmer’s leadership.

But he didn’t talk about how demoralised, angry and fearful the British people are in the hands of this hellish government. He clearly doesn’t get their despair, their terror or the fact that under Starmer immigration has spiralled out of control costing us billions we can’t afford.

He doesn’t get that Brits feel fleeced, hard done by and like third-class citizens in their own country. He just talked about The Party and what it needs – not what the British people need. And so, he’s exactly like Starmer.

For years Burnham has been a big fish in a small pond. And even there he hasn’t distinguished himself. What makes anyone think he could fix Britain? He once said: “I’ve had bad doses of imposter syndrome all my life.”

He should trust those instincts. Because he’s nowhere as good as people are currently telling him he is!
