Lewis Capaldi is a beloved musician for all the right reasons, he seems to be one of the few people who have not let the fame go to his head. He's remained incredibly down to earth, funny and still interacts with his fans.
In his latest performance, Lewis ditched his usual stage lights and opted for a short daytime gig at Aldi car park in order to promote his new song.
Now, I knew this was happening, but it seems rumours spread pretty quickly around Nottingham as floods of people started to surround the supermarket and the grounds of the school directly opposite.
I overheard students start running out before Lewis came on stage as it seems the staff had given sixth formers the green light to come and watch his performance; and they were certainly bringing in the vibes as an eruption of 'LEWIS!' came from behind me, alongside a choir performance of Someone You Loved.
Families, babies and even one gorgeous little dog lines up the gates waiting to see Lewis, but the best part of it all? Aldi, obviously, remained open... Signs were scattered across the shop apologising for any inconvenience, because obviously people still wanted to do their weekly shop.
When I arrived, Aldi staff were outside as they shared in the excitement, but as the show started, I looked inside and in a sea of red-light check outs I saw one lonely green light and I couldn't help but feel sorry for the person who was inside missing all of the fun.
Obviously, they had a job to do, but I was still sad for them!
One of the great enjoyments I had from this morning was the unforgettable looks from surprised, yet unbothered, locals who were heading in to do their weekly shop to - probably - find the shop the emptiest it's ever been.
I saw one man on a mobility scooter simply ignore the dozens of people surrounding him and head straight into Aldi without a care in the world, it honestly made me chuckle as the outdoor area of the supermarket was quite literally overtaken by all things Cap-Aldi.
It was entertaining seeing people none the wiser realising that there was a spectacle going on, let alone the spectacle being none other than Lewis.
Even Lewis himself seemed pleased with the shock factor that was taking place, waving at drivers that had a shocked look on their face and shouting at one to “keep your eyes on the road!”
It looked like poor mums were heading back from the school run too only to pull into their spot and find a huge crowd as the signs reading "Cap-Aldi" gave a sneak-peek as to who they'd be expecting.
But honestly, outside of the shocker, it was incredible! Lewis just performed three songs, nothing on the long show he's been putting on for his fans at his gigs, but it didn't feel any less spectacular.
In fact, the experience was far more intimate than any kind of show I've been to before, and Lewis' new single literally tugged on the heartstrings, it's one of those that can capture emotions without even knowing the words.
