Vicky Pattison made a shock admission just days after she made a glittering appearance during Saturday’s (September 20) Strictly Come Dancing launch show. During the pre-recorded episode, the reality star was among the 15 celebrity contestants competing to lift the highly coveted Glitterball trophy later this year. The launch show kicked off with a bang as the series 23 pairing was finally unveiled, including Vicky, who will be joined on stage with pro Kai Widdrington.
Although BBC viewers were thrilled to see the stars perform in the spectacular ballroom, Vicky claimed the launch show was the “worst experience of her life.” The 37-year-old said she felt “cripplingly aware of how s***e you are” during an episode of the Get A Grip podcast with ex-Strictly star Angela Scanlon. In her brutally honest admission about filming the BBC show, Vicky hilariously revealed that she felt like a “sausage in a skin.”
The reality star declared: “So we have filmed the launch show. No, it was the worst experience of my life.”
Angela then explained that she'd sent her co-star a voice memo to set her "nerves at ease," but she claimed Vicky didn't read it and later admitted that she really should have listened to it.
Vicky explained: “No, it was just because I was getting so overwhelmed in my own head. So, just for a bit of context, the launch show is everybody all together, all singing, all dancing, for anyone who doesn't know. It's the welcome to the series. It's big guns.”
The former Geordie Shore star highlighted that everyone was at “different levels,” which she said is true every year, and that some people were "quite good" and "better" than others.
Vicky continued: “Being around like dancers of different abilities, it does just make you like cripplingly aware of how s***e you are if ya s***e, and I am s***e. And then, of course, the pros, who are all carved by angels. I'm so sorry, where do the women put their organs? They're tiny.”
The Strictly star admitted that she felt like a “sausage in a skin” in her outfit, claiming they had to put a “special girdle” in hers, which she described as like a corset.
Despite her initial apprehension, Vicky seemed to calm her nerves and reassuringly added that once she finally started to dance, she “loved” it.
As for her pairing with Kai, the reality star beamed: “I am absolutely over the moon to be paired with Kai.
“I know how much of a phenomenal dancer and teacher he is and he is already helping me so much with my confidence and nerves.
“He’s showing me so much patience, which I’m very grateful for, as I don’t only want to make Kai proud, but I also want to make my husband and all my family proud on the dance floor too.”
