Antiques Roadshow expert Roo Irvine has issued an emotional statement as she gave fans an insight into what it’s like working on the beloved BBC show. The expert is best known for appearing on the afternoon antiques show or other similar shows such as Antiques Road Trip and Bargain. On Monday (August 25), the broadcaster took to Instagram to share a sweet snap with her co-stars on the long-running show.

The 32-year-old broadcaster could be seen beaming to the camera alongside her alongside several members of the team on a sunny afternoon. She captioned the post: “The most precious thing about being part of the Bargain Hunt family is that you literally become family.”

Smiling alongside one of the show’s oldest contestants, she gushed: “Here is a photo taken after we finished filming with the incredible Val (100 at the time & now 101!). Val, me, an amazing crew... See the smiles? That joy you see on the screens is as real behind the scenes [smiling emoji].

“We meet the most wonderful people & everyone who passes through Bargain Hunt, whether you, the contestants, crew, or contributors just make the whole family that much bigger. Bonded for life.”

The TV star urged fans to tune in for the “must-watch” episode where she discovered some interesting finds. Roo went on: “This brand-new episode was on today, so if you didn’t catch it, please do get it on @bbciplayer. Val, with her immense collection of handmade dolls houses is a must-watch, not to mention all the fab contestants & experts.

“Let’s celebrate the best in people! Yes? Yess!! [two red heart emojis and one blue heart emoji].” It didn’t take long before fans flooded to the comments section to pass on their well wishes online.

One user wrote: “Keep that smile going Roo!” as another agreed: “It was fascinating hearing about that lady’s collection of dolls houses. Couldn’t believe she was 100! Love Bargain Hunt [applause emoji].”

It comes after Roo warned followers to “watch this space” earlier this year as she announced an exciting career announcement. Back in April, Roo appeared on Lomond Radio, in her native Scotland for their Easter special.

Sharing the exciting news on social media, she penned: “Excited to join my @lomondradio family tonight on their mammoth Easter Radiothon! I’m joining the fabulous Aldo & Paul tonight 8-10pm for a chat, a good natter & some fine tunes!

“This can warm me up before I hit the Lomond Radio airwaves solo!” The following day, Roo teased that listeners can expect to hear more of her on the station as she wrote: “What an absolute joy to join you all yesterday. @lomondradio is a very happy place indeed! Looking forward to more over the coming weeks... watch this space folks!”
