Following the success of With Love, Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex will return to screens with fresh insight about her favourite foods, gardening, and hosting tips. After landing in Netflix’s global Top Ten list and acquiring 12.6 million hours viewed in its first week, the reality show was quickly renewed by the streaming giants and will premiere this week with a host of new guests and her celebrity friends.
But ahead of its comeback, a special guest star has revealed the truth about working on the lifestyle series alongside Meghan. Clare Smyth is a Michelin-starred chef and an internationally renowned restaurateur from Northern Ireland. She teaches the mother-of-two how to make a dish using the flatfish, halibut. Clare, the first woman from the UK to achieve three Michelin stars, shared what it was like when she visited the former working royals' home in Montecito, California.
In the season two trailer, Meghan and Clare could be seen visiting a fish market as the Suits star admitted: “I’m so glad, you came to show me how to do this.”
Speaking to Hello! the Chef revealed: “It was great to catch up with Meghan and spend time together in the kitchen. We went to the market, cooked one of my restaurant's dishes and just had fun. It was light-hearted, relaxed and a special experience.”
Clare was first hired by the Sussexes to cook for their 200 guests at their private reception at Frogmore House in Windsor after their wedding. She revealed that the couple had called and personally invited her to prepare their wedding reception meal.
The 46-year-old described the couple as “really lovely people” who were “easy-going, laid-back and gracious” to work for. In the run up to their nuptials, Harry and Meghan visited Core, a fine dining, three Michelin star restaurant based in Notting Hill, owned by Clare.
There, they decided on Core's signature dish, which consists of potato and roe, or potatoes cooked in seaweed, cured for two days and served with fish roe and dulse beurre blanc. This was then followed by roast chicken stuffed with sage and onion.
Clare recalled the immense “pressure” she faced to ensure the team had perfected their routine and recipe before the big day, adding they had a number of practice runs to make sure everything was “spot on”.
As well as Clare, With Love, Meghan will also star the likes of Tan France, Chrissy Teigen and Jay Shetty and Heather Dorak.
