Katie Price confessed the only bloke she ever genuinely loved was, rather awkwardly, none of her husbands. The mum-of-five, 47, has had three unsuccessful marriages and a series of failed romances, but there remains one man who, she reveals, shattered her heart. She admitted that Another Level star Dane Bowers, 45, was her one true love - until he devastated her emotionally.
Katie and Dane were an item from 1998 to 2000 before their relationship ended, with Katie describing the separation as the most difficult she had ever endured. Discussing Dane on her reality programme, Katie said: "I've been hurt before. I've been heartbroken badly, when I split from Dane. He was the only guy who completely taught me about having your heart broken.", reports the Mirror.
"I've always said that Dane's the one who did that. Because of Dane, he's made me have my barriers up and even with Pete, I'd like to say they all went down but there were a couple up still.
"Since splitting with Dane I have never let my barriers 100% down with anyone. Being heartbroken, that hurt. It's not a nice feeling."
Katie, who has walked down the aisle with Peter Andre, Alex Reid and Kieran Hayler, initially encountered Dane at the Wild Wild West film premiere in 1999, where they immediately connected.
Dane was allegedly initially attracted to Katie, but her appetite for the spotlight eventually became problematic. Katie's mother, Amy, revealed in her book, The Last Word, that Katie wasn't content in the relationship and that Dane became "jealous of her career."
Despite appearing to enjoy a blissful romance, Katie once alleged that her partner had been unfaithful to her. He has refuted these accusations.
Speaking candidly on the Katie Price Show, she revealed: "He cheated on me bad. Oh my God, so bad."
Following their acrimonious break-up, Katie reconciled with Dane and reconnected with the performer six years ago during an episode of her reality programme My Crazy Life at London nightclub.
Katie was seem saying: "Dane's too busy for me again. It's like another level with Dane. I'm just hanging on the side, he's busy doing his thing."
She later embraced him and said: "Oh Dane, how are you my darling? Do you know what's weird? You look older but it's still your eyes [look the same]. Isn't that weird?".
She went on: "You was a really good singer and a really good dancer, why do you think I fell for you?".
"When you was fat, you could dance. You was fat back in the day and I loved you when you were like that and you broke my heart."
The reality personality then turned to one of Dane's companions and revealed: "I loved him so much. He was the love of my life."
