If you’re looking for a European holiday spot that’s been pulled straight from a fantasy movie, look no further. One travel enthusiast has uncovered a picturesque location where the Chronicles of Narnia were filmed - and it’s completely otherworldly.

Nestled near the Polish border of the  Czech Republic lies Adršpach-Teplice Rocks - the 'largest rock labyrinth' of the country. Its mystical 'Gothic Gate' and towering sandstone formations served as the ideal backdrop for Narnia’s first film, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.

Emma Travel Itineraries, known as the ‘Itinerary Gal’ online, recently visited the hidden gem and even said it looked like 'something out of Avatar'. In a post to TikTok, she also explained that it’s easily accessible from Prague, making it the perfect day trip for anyone on holiday.

She said: "Did you know you can visit where the Chronicles of Narnia was filmed just two hours away from Prague or two hours away from Wroclaw in Poland? You can either take the train or book with Get Your Guide. It also looks like something out of Avatar, so definitely check it out."

Despite the rocks' fascinating appearance, specialists at the nature reserve say that they haven’t always looked this way. In fact, it’s understood that around 200 years ago the area was devastated by a major fire that lasted several weeks.

Unfortunately, this destroyed much of the surrounding forest. However, the giant sandstone formations became even more visible, making them much easier for tourists to access.

Beyond gazing at rock structures, tourists may also admire impressive waterfalls, take a boat trip, or even go hiking at the 'Rock City'. A 3.5km walking circuit in the area generally takes three hours to complete.

For those interested in visiting the site, Get Your Guide offers a wealth of day-trip options, currently costing between £77 and £224. Nonetheless, specialists at the reserve strongly recommend travelling by train to Adršpach railway station.

This is located directly in front of the entrance to Adršpach-Teplice Rocks, while buses will also drop you off around 250m away.

Official site information is also available here.
