Strictly Come Dancing bosses have announced that former England rugby union player and captain Chris Robshaw and Ru Paul's Drag Race finalist La Voix will compete in this year's series of the BBC ballroom show. The star La Voix is the seventh contestant to be announced in this year's Strictly line-up.
On joining the BBC programme hosted by Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly, La Voix said: "I've performed for royalty, RuPaul and Simon Cowell, but nothing fills me with more excitement (and quite a bit of terror) than the thought of dancing in front of millions on live Saturday night TV. Strictly is a national institution, and I can't wait to get started. All that's left to say is: good luck to my partner! Here's hoping they can help me go from La Voix into La Danse."
The announcement was revealed on The Scott Mills Breakfast Show on BBC Radio 2 this morning alongside Chris'.
Chris Robshaw said: “This is about as far out of my comfort zone as it gets! I’m hoping to take my dad dancing to a whole new level, and my mum can’t wait to drag me along to her Zumba class. Let’s see if a rugby sidestep works in the Cha Cha Cha.”
Chris is a former England rugby union player and captain. He joined Harlequins RFC straight out of school and became captain at 23.
The sportsman earned 66 caps for England and captained the national team 43 times, leading them to a Six Nations Grand Slam victory in 2016.
They will join the following celebrity contestants: Harry Aikines-Aryeetey, Dani Dyer, Alex Kingston, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, Balvinder Sopal, and George Clarke.
Other stars participating will be announced in due course ahead of the series returning to BBC One this September.
The usual judging panel will be on screens for the upcoming season, made up of Shirley Ballas, Craig Revel Horwood, Anton du Beke and Motsi Mabuse.
Strictly Come Dancing will be available to watch on BBC One and BBC iPlayer next month.
