A statement was also released on August 11 by Bela Bajaria, Netflix's chief content officer, who said: "Harry and Meghan are influential voices whose stories resonate with audiences everywhere."

The news has surprised many across the globe, who did not think Netflix would continue its partnership with the couple after reported disappointing viewing figures. 

People have also pointed out the fact that the deal is a "first-look" approach, which means Harry and Meghan would share their ideas with Netflix, who can always say no, before any other streaming giants.

One person wrote on X: "Netflix needs to reexamine Harry and Meghan's latest viewing figures..."

Another said: “That’s not a new deal. It’s only if those two come up with an idea and Netflix will consider it."

Someone else wrote: "A 'first look' deal. Meaning no money unless they actually come up with something Netflix is willing to pay for."

While some have been critical of the deal, others have been quick to praise Harry and Meghan for their hard work with Netflix.
