Victoria Coren took to social media on Saturday and delighted quizzers everywhere as she announced an urgent update. The presenter, 52, has hosted the brain teasing programme Only Connect since 2008 and has now given fans of the show details about when the new episodes will be released. Victoria told her 665,000 followers on X: "We are past the mid point of July, the air is warm, the dahlias are flowering. Is it time to start relaxing for the summer, winding down and having some fun? NO IT ISN’T.
Before adding: "Only Connect returns on Monday night, 8pm @BBCTwo." She was swiftly inundated with messages from fans who delighted in the news the quiz show will be back on screen in a matter of days. One eager fan tweeted: "Thank heavens, you’ve answered my wife’s question of last Monday, or quiz night on BBC2 as we know it, ‘when is Only Connect back?’ Well now we know - thank you."
Victoria replied: "Did they not mention it last week? Understandably embarrassed, perhaps."
Another commented: "This feels early. This isn't a problem, it's delightful news but it does feel early."
She remarked: "It is a bit early, isn’t it?"
A third wrote: "Whoop whoop , Monday night's bbc 2 back to normal, I'll sleep well tonight."
While a fourth added: "Always chuffed when I get a connection or a sequence right."
The news comes after Victoria's husband David made a heartbreaking confession.
In his memoir Back Story, the Peep Show star admitted that he was “hopelessly in love” with his now-wife, Victoria, for years before they became a couple, but kept his feelings hidden from everyone around him.
In an emotional and candid admission, the 50-year-old comedian shared that his unrequited love for Victoria cast a long shadow over his life when she rejected him.
“I was hopelessly in love. I told no one about it,” he discloses in his book. “I didn’t tell my closest friends or my parents of the enormous sadness that overshadowed my life.”
