Just days after the presenter’s controversial advert ban, the former Top Gear star Jeremy Clarkson issued a dig at James Bond legend Pierce Brosnan. The 65-year-old famously runs the Diddly Squat Farm in the Cotswolds and has entertained fans as he learns what it entails to become a farmer.
Throughout the past four seasons, the Amazon Prime Video docuseries Clarkson’s Farm has seen the novice face farming setbacks and learn key lessons from his trusted farmhand Kaleb Cooper. Jeremy oversees the animals on his 1000-acre land. He and his ex-partner, Irish model Lisa Hogan, also run a pub, The Farmer's Dog, in Asthall. Taking to X, formerly Twitter, a fan told the TV star he had watched the British crime drama series MobLand and said afterwards he was recommended to watch Clarkson's Farm.
To which Jeremy responded: “Same show really. Except Lisa’s Irish accent is better than Pierce Brosnan’s.” This came after the James Bond star came under fire from fans who criticised his accent in the star-studded crime drama and even branded his new inflection as “offensive.”
Addressing the backlash, earlier this year, Pierce hit back: “My own accent is very soft, Conrad’s accent is a million miles away from me.”
The Drogheda-native explained: “I told him that I needed a Kerry accent, so he gave me the name of a man and I googled the guy and that was it." He added to Radio Times: “It was a Kerry accent and so, I just gave it full tilt.”
Jeremy’s comments came after he filmed his first advert for Hawkstone Beer, where he was joined by 34 British farmers to sing the opera classic Flower Duet.
However, instead of the original French lyrics by Léo Delibes, the farmers sing: “F*** me, it’s good,” while holding their pints and therefore the ad was banned by regulators for non-compliance.
Jeremy and Pierce also share an unlikely link. Another pub located in the Cotswolds, The Falkland Arms, was featured in the series, and as a result, tons of fans flocked to visit the Farmer's Dog, which is just 30 minutes away.
