Konrad Bien-Stephen, who rose to fame on The Bachelorette Australia and later reached the semi-finals of The Challenge Australia, has died at the age of 35, his manager has confirmed.

Ella Dolan, speaking on behalf of his team, said they were mourning his loss and requested privacy for his family while they come to terms with the news.

No information about the cause of death has been released. Konrad first entered the public eye on The Bachelorette and went on to compete on The Challenge Australia in 2022, where he made a strong run into the later rounds.

Off-screen he worked as a carpenter and often spoke candidly about balancing his TV profile with everyday life.

In 2021 he dated fellow Bachelorette alum Abbie Chatfield, a relationship that attracted attention when they said it was open; they split in 2022 and Konrad later came out as pansexual. Chatfield has issued a personal response to his passing, saying she had already been made aware of the situation and thanking people who reached out with support.

She described the news as devastating and expressed deep sympathy for Konrad’s family and friends.

Although the pair had not been in regular contact for several years, she paid tribute to his warmth and kindness and said he had meant a great deal to many people. She urged others to reach out to loved ones and offer small acts of compassion in his memory.

Friends, fans and colleagues have begun sharing condolences across social media, remembering Konrad for his friendly nature and presence on reality TV.

More details have not been provided at this time, and the family has asked for space to grieve.
