A man has been found dead after emergency services rushed to a popular waterfront in Margate. Emergency services were called to Newgate Gap in Cliftonville, Kent, at around 11.27am today (Monday, 13 April).

A 53-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. Kent Police said his next of kin have been informed and also added the death is not being treated as suspicious.

Police cordoned off an area along Ethelbert Crescent towards Queen’s Court, as well as a path leading to the beach.

A spokesperson for the force said: “Kent Police was called following concerns for the welfare of a man in Newgate Gap, Margate, at 11.27am on Monday 13 April.

“Officers attended along with South East Ambulance Service and a 53-year-old man was pronounced deceased. His next of kin have been informed. The death is being treated as non-suspicious and a report will be prepared for the coroner.”
