Two more arrests have been made after a baby died as a result of a dog bite. A 31-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of child neglect and being a person in charge of a dog dangerously out of control resulting in death, following a fatal incident involving a three-month-old baby girl in Redcar.

Cleveland Police said a 36-year-old man has also been arrested on suspicion of being a person in charge of a dog dangerously out of control resulting in death. The man and woman have since been released on conditional bail. Officers were called to a property in the Dormanstown area on Thursday at around 1.30pm and shortly after armed officers shot a dog in the street. Another dog located at the property was put down later. Both dogs were assessed to not have been prohibited breeds. Last week, officers arrested a 45-year-old man on suspicion of being in charge of a dog dangerously out of control causing injury resulting in death. He was later released on conditional bail.
