Camilla's son has revealed a curious fact about his stepfather, King Charles III. He has lifted the lid on life behind the scenes in the royal household, offering a glimpse into how everyday routines are handled within the family. Speaking in a recent discussion, Tom Parker Bowles reflected on the rhythms of royal life and the small but telling habits that shape it. While much of the public focus tends to fall on official duties and appearances, he suggested that domestic life is far more practical and disciplined than many might expect.
He described a household where structure and routine are taken seriously, highlighting careful management of daily living. It is perhaps a side of royal life that is rarely seen, but one that appears to reflect the King's long-standing personal values.
A specific example he gave is how King Charles III approaches food. Parker Bowls, a food writer himself, revealed that for the King, there is a strong aversion to waste in the household, with leftovers never simply discarded.
Instead, any remaining food is routinely reused and transformed into new dishe. According to Bowles, nothing is thrown away unnecessarily, with a focus on making full use of what has already been prepared.
"There is no waste, everything is recycled, everything is used from the table," Parker Bowles said in an interview with the Mirror.
"If anything is leftover from the dinner, that will be made into something else or appear the next day. Nothing's allowed to be thrown out."
He added that the King "really is a food hero. To talk to him about the strange varieties of plums or pears or anything else is endlessly fascinating."
This approach reflects the King's long-held commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility, principles he has spoken about publicly for many years and continues to promote through both personal habits and official work.
