Gregg Wallace has opened up about a huge life decision. The 61 year old was sacked by the BBC in July 2025 after dozens of people came forward accusing him of inappropriate behaviour. The TV star, who had left the show in November 2024 due to the inquiry, has been vocal on social media about his future plans. Gregg addressed his time on MasterChef coming to an end and said his aim is to be financially secure in order to take care of his family.

In a candid Instagram post shared on Sunday, the TV chef revealed plans to sell his home and buy a modest property. The on-screen star also shared his desire to temporarily relocate to Italy where the family can live on a part-time basis.

In an emotional admission, he began: "I can't have the life I used to have but whether you choose to believe it or not I really wanted to come out of that anyway. Obviously, not in the dramatic way that I did," alluding to his experience on BBC MasterChef.

Gregg went on: "But now I've got some choices and I'm sure I'm not alone in this. I want to ease off a little bit. I want to relax a little bit but also that comes with wanting financial security for me and my family because I've got a wife that's much younger than me and a special needs little boy Sid.

He wants to maintain a nice lifestyle and "leave a legacy for my family". The former BBC star said he also had plans to potentially homeschool his young son.

Gregg continued: "That's not easy to do. My plans are to sell this enormous house. Buy a more modest house. Work less and spend possibly half the year in Italy making adventures with my family."

"If you are faced with decisions like that," he concluded, "do let me know."

Gregg was swiftly inundated with messages of support from his 234,000 followers.

Strictly's Vito Coppola wrote: "Sending all my love to you Gregg."

Another person remarked: "Best wishes to you all, sounds like a very good plan." A third added: "I think a fresh start will be the best move. You don't need a massive house; a nice home for your family will be enough. And if you can afford 6 months in Italy, do it!"

Gregg began co-presenting MasterChef in 2005, but it was announced in November 2024 that he would step away from his role while misconduct allegations were investigated.

A review later upheld 45 of the 83 allegations against him, which mostly occurred between 2005 and 2018.

Gregg issued an apology saying he was "deeply sorry for any distress caused" and that he "never set out to harm or humiliate".
