A hapless crook had the smile wiped from his face after he caught by cops because of a photo he sent to a pal showing off his new teeth. Coran Davies, 23, sent the picture of the new bright white shiny veneers he'd had fitted during a cosmetic procedure in Turkey.

Turkey has become so popular with Brits seeking dental work, vaneers obtained in the country now carry the nickname, Turkey teeth. But little did Davies realise when he was sending photos to his friend Dale Howell showing off his own procedure, he was also being monitored by police who had access to Howell's phone.

South Wales Police said Davies, from Porth, South Wales, sent messages to Howell referencing the supply cocaine and cannabis. Both men from Rhondda were jailed on Thursday April 9 for supplying class A drugs and cannabis.

Coran Davies was arrested after officers used retrospective facial recognition technology on the image he’d sent to his drug dealer friend Howell's phone.

On September 25 last year, officers had carried out a search warrant under the Misuse of Drugs Act in Treherbert where they found an ounce of cocaine, cannabis and other drugs paraphernalia. Months later, on March 7, 2026, plain clothed officers spotted Davies driving through Tonypandy in a black Ford Fiesta and they arrested him.

Howell, 25, also from Porth, was a passenger in the car. He was also arrested.

Both were searched and found to be in possession of cocaine, cannabis and thousands of pounds in cash.

They pleaded guilty to drugs offences and acquiring criminal property, namely money, and appeared at Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court on Thursday April 9 to be sentenced.

Davies was jailed for 48 months and Howell was jailed for 36 months.
