
A 45-year-old man has been arrested after a three-month-old girl died as a result of a dog bite in Teesside, Cleveland Police said. The child sadly died at a home on Hardale Grove after police were called to reports of concern for her. Armed officers arrived at the property just after 1.30pm on April 9 and killed the dog on the street, as well as another dog located at the property.
A specialist officer assessed both dogs and deemed neither of them to be a prohibited breed. A 31-year-old woman also suffered an injury to her arm as a result of the dog bite and was hospitalised for treatment. The investigation into the girl's death is ongoing and at this stage being treated as a result of a dog bite.
On April 9, a 45-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of being in charge of a dog dangerously out of control, causing injury resulting in death. He has since been released on conditional bail after being questioned.
