The historic Artemis II mission is coming to an end in just hours. After going further beyond in space than any other human before, the four-strong crew is now preparing for splashdown. The momentous event will happen shortly after 1am on Saturday, April 11.

The return to Earth of the NASA mission is as dangerous as spectacular, experts have warned. Space journalist Kate Arkless Gray warned the re-entry is a "very dangerous moment", with the Orion capsule set to hit the planet's atmosphere at 25,000mph. The expert told Sky News: "It absolutely has to go to plan. There's a very specific angle of entry that they have to come in on and if they don't manage that, that thermal protection system, the heat shield, it won't keep them alive."
