Netflix has just released a trailer for its highly anticipated British crime thriller that simply cannot be missed.
The brief teaser for the forthcoming crime drama Legends landed on YouTube yesterday (April 9) and has already sparked considerable interest amongst viewers, with many flocking to the comments section to share their opinions on the Netflix production, drawing comparisons to an Apple TV+ "masterpiece", reports the Mirror.
One viewer posted: "A Thatcher era "Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare"? I am intrigued."
A second commented: "Brilliant cast Looks excellent!"
While a third drew parallels to an Apple TV+ spy thriller: "so netflix wanted to make slow horses basically [sic]."
Another added similar sentiments: "Netflix's version of Slow Horses."
Further excitement was generated by The Prodigy's Breathe featuring on the trailer's soundtrack.
One viewer wrote: "Prodigy gave me goosebumps" while another echoed: "Prodigy soundtrack, class actors, and style. I'll be on this like a car bonnet when it comes out."
Legends arrives on Netflix next month, following a group of ordinary men and women recruited to infiltrate Britain's most notorious drug gangs in a bid to bring them down.
Each operative must become a Legend, adopting an entirely new identity and embodying it completely, sacrificing their former life in the process.
The six-part series will drop all at once on May 7 and has been penned by Neil Forsyth, the creative mind behind the BBC's The Gold and series Guilt.
Legends boasts an impressive ensemble cast, fronted by Alan Partridge star Steve Coogan, who leads his recruits on a perilous mission to combat the illegal drug smuggling epidemic sweeping Britain during the 1990s.
Alongside him are Tom Burke of BBC's Strike and War and Peace, Ghosts' Charlotte Ritchie, Hayley Squires from I, Daniel Blake, Victoria's Tom Hughes, Kidulthood star Aml Ameen, Shadow and Bone actress Jasmine Blackborow, and Douglas Hodge from Black Mirror.
Additional cast members include Johnny Harris, Gerald Kyd, Numan Acar, Joshua Samuels, Kem Hassann and Thomas Coombes.
Discussing Legends, creator Forsyth told Netflix's Tudum: "I've written shows in the past that are about well-known events. You then tell the story behind it that isn't so well known.
"This is unique, in that the work of the Legends is barely known at all ... There was this core team of people that did all of this, and they did it almost without any public recognition."
He further elaborated on how he had met with some of these real-life Legends, amongst them Guy Stanton, whom Forsyth consulted while developing the series.
"I immediately got a sense of the human journey that he and others had taken in this remarkable story," Forsyth said.
Legends will be released on Netflix on May 7
