A golf and activity centre club has issued a statement after a boy tragically died following an incident at the venue. Emergency services were called to the Priory Golf and Activity Centre in March Road, March at around 2pm on Monday (April 6).

The East of England Ambulance Service reportedly found a “child in the water” - a seven-year-old boy - who was was taken to Peterborough City Hospital, where he later died. The activity centre released a statement on Thursday (April 9). A centre spokesperson said: “On Monday, April 6, 2026 at approximately 2pm, a seven-year-old child who had been reported missing in the local area was found on our premises. Our team immediately contacted the police, assisted the child, and administered CPR until emergency services arrived. As a result of this incident, the centre was closed for the remainder of the day.

“Tragically, we were informed the following day that the child had passed away. Our deepest condolences and thoughts are with the child’s family and all those affected by this heartbreaking loss.”

It is understood that the centre will not be providing further details at this moment.

It added: “We kindly ask that others refrain from sharing speculation or rumours on social media.

“The safety and wellbeing of all children on our site remains our highest priority. We would like to reassure our customers that this tragic incident was unrelated to our operations or activities, and the centre continues to operate as usual.

“Once again, our thoughts and prayers are with the family and everyone affected.”
