Piers Morgan didn’t hold back as he took a swipe at Donald Trump after a viral post exposed the president’s wildly shifting claims on the escalating crisis in Iran. The detailed timeline of Trump’s comments began circulating online — highlighting a string of rapidly changing claims over the course of March and early April. The timeline showed Trump repeatedly declaring victory, before walking those claims back or contradicting them entirely. Among the statements were: “We won the war," followed days later by, “We did win, but we haven’t won completely yet.”
Trump later declared: “You never like to say too early you won. We won. In the first hour it was over.” Yet shortly after, he appeared to escalate tensions again, saying: “Make a deal, or we’ll just keep blowing them away.” Morgan shared the timeline, commenting: “If this is ‘3-D Chess’, I’m an Aardvark.” The contradictions didn’t stop there. The timeline also suggested that within days, Trump was both demanding support from allies and rejecting it outright.

Though clearly using sattire, the X post read: “He said: 'Please help us,' before he insisted: “Actually, we don’t need any help at all.” He then added: “I was just testing to see who’s listening to me.”
On NATO, his stance appeared to shift just as dramatically. At one stage, Trump warned: “If NATO doesn’t help, they will suffer something very bad.”
But shortly after, he reversed course, saying: “We neither need nor want NATO’s help.” The timeline also showed a growing focus on the Strait of Hormuz, a key flashpoint in the conflict.
Trump issued repeated warnings, including: “Open the Strait of Hormuz immediately, or face devastating consequences.”
Days earlier, he had said: “The Strait of Hormuz must be protected by the countries that use it. We don’t use it, we don’t need to open it.” By April 5, the rhetoric had intensified further.
Trump posted an expletive-laden ultimatum demanding Iran reopen the strait by Tuesday, threatening strikes on power plants and bridges if it failed to comply — describing the looming deadline as “Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day.”
Things escalated further last week after a second airman was rescued following a F-15E Strike Eagle military plane being shot down over Iran. Trump said the service member was “seriously wounded".
Amid escalating tensions, diplomatic efforts are reportedly underway. A ceasefire proposal has been delivered through intermediaries, with talks aimed at securing a temporary halt in fighting while a longer-term agreement is negotiated.
But fans had a lot to say about Morgan’s post on X. One user wrote: “Bro declared victory, asked for help, rejected help, threatened everyone… all in 10 business days.”
Others pushed back, defending Trump’s approach.
One commenter said: “Well we have an actual capable military in the US, so that’s already a victory over every single other country on the planet... the UK couldn’t even send one ship to Cyprus, which is their base!!!
"You have no ability to defend yourselves. Now that the US won’t do it for you anymore, that’s gonna be a problem.”
