Multiple streets have been cordoned off in Liverpool city centre as police swarm the Cavern Quarter. Cordons are currently in place on Button Street, Mathew Street, Victoria Street and part of Whitechapel.
Large sections of the Cavern Quarter were sealed off by officers on Monday, April 6, with police tape also extending onto Whitechapel and alongside the HSBC bank. The Liverpool Echo reports the refuse collectors working in the city centre were turned away from the area by officers guarding the cordon. Merseyside Police said there is currently no ongoing risk to the public, but declined to provide any further details.
