
Actor Rahul Arunoday Banerjee has sadly died by drowning while filming a film, it has been reported. A case has been registered following the death of the Bengali actor who died by drowning during a shoot. It was reported that the actor had travelled to Talsari Beach a few days ago for a film shoot. After completing it, it was reported that he slipped in shallow seawater and was swept away by strong currents.
The actor was rescued by local fishermen and he was rushed to Digha State General Hospital, where he was declared dead. Suspicions were raised by his family with a FIR registered and prompting an investigation into claims of conspiracy and the circumstances leading to the actor's death.
His family have lodged a complaint at the Talsari Marine Police Station. His wife, Priyanka Banerjee, along with Bengali actor Prosenjit Chaterjee, filed the complaint in front of police officials as five people have been named in connection with the incidents, with Priyanka sharing her suspicion of foul play.
Actor Prosenjit said: "Rahul's family approached the police to file an FIR and were supported throughout the process. In the presence of a lawyer and police personnel, we filed the FIR." Balasore Additional SP Dibyajyoti Das stated that it had been registered and an investigation has started, he explained that details will be shared as further facts emerge. Authorities are examining all aspects relating to the incident.
The 43-year-old actor was shooting for a series called Bhole Baba Paar Karega when the incident occurred, though the director, Subhashis Modal, had stated that the shoot had ended prior to the incident, but Banerjee was keen to get an additional shot.
They said: "The shoot had ended and most of the cast left, but Rahul-da insisted on an unscripted drone shot.
"We were filming honeymoon scenes with Rahul-da and Sweta (Mishra) in knee-deep water. The first take was completed," the director added that Sweta had started to feel uneasy after being hit by a wave and left, but Rahul-da wanted a second take with him facing the camera.
The director continued: "The entire team requested him (to come out of water), but he didn't listen. A bigger wave caused him to slip and swallow water," they added that everyone jumped in to rescue him with lifeguards joining in too, prior to being rushed to hospital. However, he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
