The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh have had to stay at a “holiday let” for their Easter break to Sandringham due to Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, according to reports. Prince Edward and Sophie wanted to stay at Wood Farm, where the former Duke of Kork is currently living, for the weekend, but had to instead opt for a nearby cottage as Andrew refuses to leave the property, it is claimed.
Andrew has been staying at Wood Farm on the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk while his new permanent residence, Marsh Farm, has been undergoing renovations. Andrew was told to leave his previous abode, the sprawling 30-room Royal Lodge in Windsor, back in October, as it was confirmed he would be stripped of his royal titles amid scrutiny over his links to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The Edinburghs reportedly had to stay in Sandringham’s Gardens House, which costs up to £4,110 per week in the peak season.
“Andrew was evicted from Royal Lodge at Windsor but now has two homes at his disposal,” an insider told The Sun which broke the story.
“He is just going back and forth between Wood Farm and Marsh Farm.
“It’s got to be sorted as Edward and Sophie like to use Wood Farm.”
The Gardens House sleeps eight and is a few hundred yards from the main Sandringham House.
The Sun reported on Friday that Edward visited Andrew to have a “quiet word” about getting his brother to complete his long-awaited move to Marsh Farm.
Andrew has been accused of “dragging his heels” over moving into his permanent address.
The former prince has reportedly been receiving hundreds of boxes of his belongings in recent weeks, with the move into Marsh Farm suggested to be “imminent”.
He is believed to have spent Easter on the Sandrigham Estate and on Saturday was seen walking his dogs.
Edward and Sophie joined the rest of the Royal Family for the traditional Easter Sunday church service at St George’s Chapel in Windsor.
